Who is this guide for? Only organisational admins can integrate Slack with TALY. It's important you contact your TALY account manager or your internal organisational admin to request privileges so you can set up.
In this guide we will explore how an Account Admin User can install the Culture Amp app for Slack so employees can receive notifications, and access Culture Amp features straight from Slack. Double-check with your TALY account manager if Slack integration is enabled.
Notes About the TALY Slack Integration
Within a Slack subscription you may have multiple workspaces; however, it is only possible to integrate TALY with one workspace at a time.
TALY’s Slack feature allows users to ask questions about people directly in Slack by tagging the individual with the @ mention feature. To ensure the integration works correctly, users must have matching email addresses across both Slack and TALY. If a user’s Slack email and TALY email do not match—due to a recent update or a different login—the integration will not recognise the user, and account details may need to be updated.
To ask questions about someone in Slack, they must have fully completed their TALY profile. The bot cannot provide insights based on partially completed data.
Permissions in Slack reflect the same access controls as the TALY platform. Managers can ask questions about their direct reports. Org admins can ask about anyone in the organisation. Team members can only ask about themselves. This ensures privacy and access remain consistent with TALY’s intended permission structure.
STEP 1: Enabling TALY on Your Slack Workspace
-
Get started, log into your account and find the settings page, found in the left hand panel, by clicking the triangle next to your name, business name, and role.
Click settings and go into communications, which will appear in the same left hand panel.
Click on the green button "integrate with Slack".
This will bring you to the Slack website.
Log in, and accept the terms and conditions.
This gives the AskTALY chatbot app permissions to communicate with the platform to access data and transmit messages to your workspace. Check with your IT Administrators if there are any additional steps required for your organisation.
STEP 2: Downloading the AskTALY Chatbot from the Slack Marketplace
Near the bottom of your Slack will be your apps, click the "Add apps" button.
Type "AskTALY", and you should find the AskTALY AI chatbot.
Click "Open App", which will then add the app to your workspace.
Start chatting!
