This guide walks you through the three steps required to connect your TALY organisation with Microsoft Teams, add the TALY bot to your Teams workspace, and start using it.
There are three parts to the setup:
Connect your organisation to a Teams workspace
Upload the TALY bot into your Teams Admin Centre
Access and start using the bot within Teams
⚙️ Part 1 — Connect Your TALY Organisation to a Teams Workspace
In TALY, navigate to:
Settings → Communication Settings → Integrate with MS Teams-
You’ll be redirected to a Microsoft login screen.
If you have multiple Microsoft accounts, you will be prompted to choose one.
If you only have one account, integration will proceed automatically.
After selecting the Microsoft account, TALY will link your organisation to the Teams workspace associated with that account.
A link to download a file should appear once you've connected to your Teams Workspace, AskTALY.zip. However, if it doesn't appear, please contact us at hello@taly.com and we'll send you the file, which you'll need for later steps.
Note:
Each Teams workspace can only be linked to one TALY organisation.
If the workspace is already connected elsewhere, you will see an error.
Once completed, Part 1 is done — your organisation is now connected to a Teams workspace.
🤖 Part 2 — Add the TALY Bot to Microsoft Teams
Because the bot is still in the publishing process, it must be added manually via the Teams Admin Center.
This step typically requires IT admin permissions.
Steps:
Open the Microsoft Teams Admin Center:
https://admin.teams.microsoft.com/policies/manage-appsIn the left navigation menu, go to:
Teams apps → Manage appsAt the top-right, click Actions → Upload a new app.
Select Upload custom app, then choose the file provided by TALY:
AskTALY.zipOnce uploaded, you’ll see the app appear in the list of managed apps.
You may click into the newly uploaded app to review its details (logo, description, metadata, etc.).
After this step, the bot is available to your Teams workspace.
💬 Part 3 — Using the TALY Bot in Microsoft Teams
Now that the bot is installed, individual users can access it.
In Microsoft Teams, go to the Apps section.
Navigate to Built for your organisation.
You should now see the TALY (or AskTALY) app listed.
Click Open.
-
The first time a user launches the bot, it will display an onboarding message and prompt the user to sign in.
This sign in step connects the user's Microsoft account to their TALY profile so the bot knows who is interacting with it (for permissions/privacy reasons).
We suggest signing in and signing out of your Teams Account to activate the bot immediately, otherwise it usually takes 20 - 30 minutes to appear in MS Teams in our experience.
